Once Upon a Time

How We Met

It began the way most good things do — unremarkably, and then all at once. Neither of us was looking for anything. Both of us stayed longer than we meant to.

The Years Between

Then came the ordinary years, which turned out to be the important ones. Cities and jobs and small apartments. A hundred quiet Tuesdays that added up to a life.

The Question

The answer had been obvious for a long while. The question was only ever a formality — though it was asked properly, and there were witnesses, and there were tears.

And they cast but one shadow.

The Day

The Order of Things

    Ceremony

    The vows. Please be seated fifteen minutes prior.

  2. 3:30

    Cocktail Hour

    Drinks and portraits while the hall is turned.

  3. 5:00

    Reception

    Dinner, toasts, and the first dance.

  4. 7:00

    Dancing

    The floor opens and stays open.

  5. 10:00

    Send-Off

    A last farewell before the carriage turns back into a pumpkin.

Formal Attire

Black tie optional, drawn from our colours — deep teal, oxblood, and black. Come dressed for a winter court.

Getting There

February 14th falls on a Sunday, and Presidents’ Day is the following Monday — so the weekend runs long for those travelling in.

  • Sacramento International (SMF) Closest — about 35 minutes from Lincoln.
  • San Francisco International (SFO) About 2 hours 15 minutes by car.
  • Oakland International (OAK) About 2 hours by car.

Staying Over

  • Holiday Inn Express — Rocklin About 15 minutes away. Block rate to be arranged.
  • Hampton Inn — Roseville About 20 minutes away. Block rate to be arranged.

Things You May Ask

Are children invited?

We love your little ones, but this will be an adults-only celebration. Your invitation will name everyone included.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes — free parking is available on site, with additional street parking nearby.

Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and reception are both indoors. February evenings get cold, so bring a layer for the walk in.

Can I bring a guest?

Your invitation will name everyone included. If you are unsure, please just ask us.

What time should I arrive?

Doors open half an hour before the ceremony. Please be seated fifteen minutes prior.

Is there a registry?

Your presence is the gift. For those who have asked, a registry will be linked here closer to the day.
